Top Models (Pioneras)
Top Models (Pioneras), 2003-2016
The series of 6 photographs
Top Models (Pioneras) was an intervention carried out in 2003, when the phenomenon of prostitution of adolescent pioneers began in Havana. The process consisted of taking a public photo session of three pioneers who after leaving school each day took off their white uniform blouses and put on a civilian garment, to practice prostitution. The photographs were taken in the same places where these pioneers practiced prostitution.. The idea of the work is not only to tell about the minors’ prostitution, but to emphasize how the minuscule story, of exercising daily resistance, breaks the rhetoric of the great story. A rhetoric given this time by the uniform.
